Can anyone tell me how long the solution of Debantic 50 WP is effective? I made the .5% solution in August and used it again recently, but am worried that it may lose its efficacy over time. I didn't see that info anywhere.

Hi there, hope you are enjoying BYC! :frow

Keep things effective by not using them when you don't need them. And when you do use them... follow up treatment according to directions in order to prevent the next generation that hatches from having some exposure but not enough to kill them... there by giving resistance in the future.

I haven't heard of that product before. Looks like you may be in Canada, adding that to your general profile can help folks make the best suggestions possible at a glance int he future. What I read just now... says do NOT treat more often every 14 days. So it must be very effective and have a fair amount of residual. If you have an infestation, I would consider a follow single follow up treatment around day 15-21.

Are you treating your birds, the premises, or both? Which application are you using... dust, wet, other??

Sometimes switching up treatments is suggested to help prevent resistance. I have not found it necessary YET.. when used according to directions. It could be impacted by what your neighbors have going on and choose to do. Some folks treat on a schedule regardless if need is verified or not and this does add to resistance issues across the board.

I am no expert and sharing information according to my research, experience, and understanding. :fl

I appreciate your feedback. Yes, I am in Canada. I had treated the chickens in August, but recently became aware that there was a resurgence of lice. I was just concerned that the solution I made up was not expired."
