    All of our birds are tested/vaccinated for Clamydia...
    I work at Petco...though...
    The Petsmart near me hasn't been selling any hookbills because of this...your soft beaks: doves and finches are okay.

    Man, that's one severe illness (Wikipedia describes the human symptoms). I can't imagine dying from it though. I'll never understand why people who are that ill don't go to a doctor. The E.R. cannot turn you away. Nevertheless, PetSmart deserves a peck on the head!

    There are actually a number of diseases that a human can acquire from birds. I'm a respiratory therapist and one of the first few questions asked by a physician when a patient is critically ill with unknown etiologies and on a ventilator is have they been exposed to any birds recently. You just never know...... [​IMG]

    I wear a mask when cleaning the coop....just a tip.
