PET CHICKEN OWNERS UNITE

What is good and safe to use for dust baths for your house chicken?
There are lots of commercial sands with minerals for reptiles and chinchilla. Can a chicken use these?
Regular ole dirt from your yard is just as good as anything you can buy.

Conflict.
I brought in a seriously injured juvenile female turkey about a week ago. Just until she heals.
My August,a 2 and a half month old pullet who I have raised indoors since her hatch was sorely displeased.
She gets time to play and socialize around the house. The other day I gave August her first full bath. She was t happy about it but firgave me later. However after she was dry and had some time to llay around the house she noticed the turkey in a cage.

Shortly after she began squawking and pacing all other the place in an irritated fashion.. She circled the table and area where the turkey was and voiced her unhappiness broadly.
She did this for quite a while. So much so that she seemed to be panting as she squacked with her mouth open.

She has been fine since. She gets fed well amd an abundance of healthy treats and loads of attention.
I was hoping she would be fine woth the turkey in her house so that hopefully tbeu could share a coop when it is finished.

Im not sure this is going to work out.
Can anyone tell me if they think that her acting up was because she didnt like the turkey in her turf,or if she was upset because of her bath?
Just looking for some feedback.
Below are some pics of her after her first full bath.

Why are you bathing this bird?

She is mainly indoors. Her vent area needed cleaning as well as her feet particularly the feathers on her feet. She gets time in the house to run around. In order for her to do that she needed a clean up.
She is not living outside with a flock or in a large coop. She was just learning to perch and had residue from her cage floor and loft on her. She deaerved to be clean and have her run around time, therfore I took care of it.
Do yiu know what I mean?
Show chickens get bathed sometimes twice during the week before as well as during the show weeks. I felt confident that I would be able to safely and properly bathe my girl, and I did.

i give my chicken the occasional bath and she is perfectly fine with it. it seems that it is the turkey that got her energy high and caused her to pant. she'll hopefully be okay witht he turkey soon! i babysat guinea pigs and my chicken didnt like them for the first few days but she got used to them after a while. sorry for the late response!

No worries, better late than never lol. I agree.
I think it was the turkey on her turf making her upset and pant too.
I am mostly concerned about my chicken ingesting the reptile sand or chinchilla sand. Looks like they are made with sodium bicarbonate. Not sure about the hermit crab sand. The bags say that there are minerals in the ingredients.
