I generally refer to any waitress as either Sugar Britches or Butter Nugget............HAH! not.

Yes, it is a normal thing in the south to call other people Dear, Honey, Baby, Sugar....very. More so with women than men but there are lots of men who call women this too.

I am never offended when another woman says it to my DH or vise versa .... It usually isn't intended to be offensive but just a southern hospitality type thing.....

I guess being Southern, I naturally call people pet names. Friends or people I l flirt with might get called sugar dumplin, babydoll, babycakes, toots, or who knows what....
As a teacher, I can't remember the names of all my students (I know, it's awful of me), so I just call them all darlin, sweety, baby, or son. They never know the difference! lol
