I don't think they were intentionally discarded. But I wonder if the criteria that allowed for them to be added and removed automatically were provided by an add-on that's no longer supported. I think I worked on setting them up a long time ago, and they worked by using a pair of criteria to add users to groups, one being that a user had been a member for at least a certain number of days and the other being that they had been a member for no longer than another number of days. I think those criteria may have been provided by an add-on, since I recall there being an add-on for expanded criteria.
Yeah, I just tried to find the add-on online and it seems unsupported now and doesn't list XF 2.3 as a compatible version. That's a shame.

Hey friends,

Nope, we definitely didn’t remove the “year badges” on purpose. They were powered by a third-party add-on that unfortunately isn’t compatible with the new forum software version. That’s why they suddenly disappeared after the upgrade.

This is one of those love/hate things about add-ons: they’re awesome until the developer stops updating them, and then they break when the core software moves forward. Super frustrating, I know.

We’re looking into whether there’s a replacement or another way to bring this feature back. In the meantime, thank you for your patience, and keep the feedback coming so we can prioritize the stuff you care about most.
