PetSmart Rant

I think you'll make it an even 100.

My goal is 3 new ones, max. A pair of Seramas and possibly one more. Hopefully some of the quailies will go to new homes.

My will is strong because my heart is pure.

.. Didn't say pure /what/.

KellyHM you need to sell them to the petstore for $30, that way you get a good price and they make $19.99 profit on them.

Pet stores are usually in it for the money no matter how you look at it. Many individuals are also in it for the money too. Many times you can get someone who knows their stuff, and many times you get someone who can't tell a frog from a fish. It depends on the location here on what you end up with. Policy in some are to not sell to minors, and some are to ask how big your tank is. In the end... it's rather irrelevant since if someone wants something, they'll go get it some where some how, and if they refuse, they lose business. If they accept, they can end up on the nagging end about how illresponsible they are for so and so.

That said, every time I buy fish, they ask me the tank size... a mute point if your tank is overstocked with too many little fish to start with.

I bought some hamster pellets at the feed store for .79cents a lb! Pet store wanted 2.50 a lb for the same product by the same name! Just wasn't in bulk.

Petsmart won't buy from individual breeders unless you are dealing with their wholesaler and have a USDA licsense. Been there done that. Pet trade is hard to deal with because of many lawsuits I won't name because of rules. However, because of all this mess and red tape for the big companies, the small time breeder is seeing an increase in sales from people who cannot find the pet they want at the pet stores. Catch 22 really. Basically I get more money for my pet stock than I ever did before. And in times past when I couldn't sell off pet stock I was overloaded. Now I have waiting lists and am usually sold out.

Around here BQ wouldn't go too good as everyone who asks me for quail want them for food.

I never really liked PetSmart. And Oscars aren't that aggressive (especially compared to some of their cousins like Convicts and Jack Dempseys).

Yeah, tell me about it...we had to get rid of the one Jack Dempsey we had b/c he was beating up all the Oscars.

It's a good thing my Oscar is 3 times the size of my Convicts (technically they're Convict hybrids with another species but I'm not gonna go into that) or he'd be dead by now.
