Pheasants free ranging......

One friend had a Silver male who was very aggressive....one day he went after her and as she fled he went out with her....lol. She was so mad at him she didn't try to catch him. He stuck around and on occasion would chase them. He would go next store which always had county workers working, and chase them...hehe. She always heard them laughing as they ran.... He stayed around for about a year....she had a coyote come and take some penned birds and thinks it got him as well....
I have been pretty lucky as only two pheasants that got out did not return in my time keeping them. They normally always make their way back near their pen and I place a dog kennel along the fence line and walk them in....
Even my young silver hen who got out...chased and stomped at by an emu into the neighbors woods, came back after a few hours. And I have 16 acres that backs up to more woods and a state forest..... Was lucky.

I have a Silkie that is about to hatch some wild Ring Necked Pheasant eggs in the next couple days. My cousin found them on an abandoned nest, and the incubation actually worked. Anyways, being that the "mom" is a domestic chicken, and they will grow up around domestic chickens, do you think they will stay around? Or will they be gone the first chance they can? All my chickens are free range all day from when I let them out until they come back at night and I close them up.

Thanks in advance.

I would really be surprised if they stay around

If a pheasant is clipped, or pinions, can just a regular backyard (6ft fence) hold them in or do they need more? Also, I have a small section of the yard with a 4 ft fence, I can easilt place a 5 ft one in its place, but I wouldnt prefer it, do you think it will be necessary?

Only way to keep your roosters to free range and come back is to keep the hens in a pen on your property. Other than this, the roosters will be gone. Free range hens are definately gone. I have never seen a free range pheasant that will come back to roost even if you raised them on the roost.
