I like the B/W one a bit better. The color version is a bit too monochromatic in the orange scale for me. As a suggestion, do a bit of spot healing on her eye to blend that vertical light bar out. It's just odd enough to draw the viewer's eye to it and be distracting.

I know it's a "pet the kitty" shot which is definitely a good captured moment. These can end up in frames on tables or photos albums as a good family pet snapshot. They're a bit flat, there's not a lot of contrast in the lighting. They're in good focus and the color balance is great. Compositionally it's hard to be drawn into them because of the sideways angle and no distinct open eye, plus the flat lighting and kinda bland background.

Overall, as snapshots capturing a moment in time, nailed it.
 
I read through your photo School on critiquing photographs so maybe you could critique this picture? I did different ones

I would try to get down lower with the camera if I were you.
Go back out there and get lower so your eye level and take a few of this exact bird so you can compare the differences.
