Ask 5 people opinions on cropping and you'll end up with 10 different crops... :lau

I think of the rule of thirds as more of a guideline to keep you from always center composing. Sometimes it looks great with the body right on an intersecting line, sometimes with the head right on an intersecting line, sometimes the eye, and sometimes it just doesnt work with anything directly on the intersection.

In this case, in post #1662, the bird feels a little too far to the right for me (but not by much). In post #1664, it feels a little too center composed (again not by much).

The way I would crop it is basically splitting the difference between the two.(which is following rule of thirds but not putting anything directly on the intersection). I would crop it like this...

But cropping does come down to personal preference....
