Picking the gender of my ducks

I think I'll try out with 5 or 6 bucks for a dozen. I do want to give out 3 eggs to future customers so they can see if they like duck eggs or not.

That’s a good strategy to gain some loyalty too. Looking over the thread some charged higher for fertile eggs, I never asked at the Farmers Market if they are fertile or not. Makes sense that they would be cheaper if infertile.

Sorry for hijacking the thread Heather! We just love our female ducks.

I’ve had both a flock of males and females. I like eggs so I’m sticking with hens but I never had any problems with my boys. Boys are quiet and tend to be calmer. If they are raised together there really shouldn’t be aggression problems with each other.

But still, you should always remember to keep a healthy ratio. 1 drake for about 5 hens. But if she sticks with getting 2, 1 drake and 1 hen would be fine. Just always remember that they will fight over the hens if the ratio has too many drakes...
