pics of guard dogs

Here is my Diesel...guardian of the homestead. I have watched him in hot pursute of many a coyote when they tried to set foot on our property.

She's not any breed but mutt, but she's a good guard dog for my chickens. She also barks, growls, and all her fur stands up when most people come near my backyard.

She has a mutt face, but a big fat Lab tail. She likes to lick my chickens then lay down in the yard with them.

She's even fought off my coonhound for the sake of the chickens before when he accidentally got out into the yard, and she barks and chases away hawks...and squirrels, and rabbits, and any other moving animal that comes near my yard.

So cute! How can I get my hound to do that? He sniffs their butts then chases them, he thinks they are playing with him I guess, and he wants them to run up a tree so he can stand against it and howl.

We started socializing him at a very young age, correcting him when he chased them and praising him when he was calm. Finally we began telling him "down" and "stay" and feeding them between his legs. Now he loves to watch them, and follows them around.

That's some kind of mutt, no idea what, but she likes the dog for some reason. She lets him get near her chicks, but she pecks me. The chicks are Black Copper Marans.

Meet Cheyenne, the three year old Carolina Dog. She's an excellent guard dog for the house(since she has the meanest bark ever and is terrified of all new people), but due to her penchant for fighting and attempting to kill other animals I cannot let her near the chickens.

However she is the sweetest and smartest dog I've ever come across. Once she knows you, she'll love you forever.
