I've never seen any feed on the ground. Because they have to have there head way down in the pipe there's really no way for them to bill it out. Full it lasts 7 standard EEs a week.

Where is Butler. I'm on south side of ft. worth. Was just wandering how close we are. Found someone on here last week that's just a mile away from me. Would like to meet others in my area. Thanks

OK, checked out the Habitat for Humanity re-sale shop on Saturday and found several boxes of 3-4" plastic connectors...for 50 cents to $1. Now, considering the fact that I was so giddy at teh great find, I need to go back and get enough for making 3 feeders / 3 waterers.

Another question...any chance we could get a closer photo of the detail where the ball valve is connected? What size pipe is the ball valve attached to? And what size pipe do the chicks drink from?

(just need a few more details so I can buy the correct parts, thanks!)

I got a new camera so here goes

I went from 4 inch to 2.5 inch I think(may be 3inch). The bigest valve I could afford. Then a sink drain trap.

If you look at the wire you can see one of the slide open egg collection doors I designed.

Here is my feeder after it has rained an snowed all night. Yes there is wet food but see how little actually gets wet. They should eat way more than that well before it molds.

You can also see the wire that knocks the food down the pipe every time a chicken walks across the pen.(for when I feed mash)

Thanks! I have to run to Home Depot and Lowes for a few other things today, I'll check out the ball valves. And I like the sliding door too. We have to cut the wire on our tractor to install long 2 x 4's so we can move the darn heavy thing! The sliding doors would be a nice accessory so that wild birds don't let themselves in through the small holes. Thanks again!!!
