I didn't think the white one was a roo. How can you tell?

yeah chickmama i hope i can get more of the chicks started myself. my mom gets about 5 or 6 eggs a day from her's. i told her around the 20 th to start saving me all her blue eggs. she said how many do you want i told her my bator will hold 41. so lets try to filler-up. i have a new toy with a auto turner and need some practice with it.

Because I have only seen roosters colored that way (the white and blk one), but this is from a picture so I am guessing from what I can see. So there is always hope if you want a hen. I raised EE and then true ameraucana for years. We can sometimes sex them by their combs but alot of times the feather pattern and colors would tell us sooner. Also by the legs. Are the white chickens feet, legs and "knees" bigger than the other birds the same age? That can also help to determine roo or hen. This is just something I have learned after dealing with the breed for years.

I have had some roosters with combs smaller than the hens. There is an old wives tail that if the comb is small it is not a good fertile rooster. We still got fertile eggs from our small combed roos but not as good as the roos with big combs. You also have to remember that EE's are a mix of something so one parent could be from a chicken/breed with no or small combs. So hard to be 100% sure.

I hope you get a girl but I have an almost exact copy of both your blk one and the white one and they are both definitely roos.

I have to agree with firefly with the 2 roos. That comb may not be red yet, but it is awful wide. My money is on the second and fourth pics being roos... sorry
