Pics Of My Goldens

Even though you have shipped birds for 10 years without a problem, there is always a chance of a problem. So I would like to know what you would do if a bird arrives deceased.

What is the total cost for one pair, box, shipping, and a health certificate (not npip form)?

What's the difference between an NPIP form and a health certificate?

NPIP forms show that you have been tested by your state for pullorum/typhoid, along with several other diseases you can select to be tested for.
Pretty much manditory for 95% of all states. In addition some states require a State Vet to preform a heath exam and send along a "clean bill of heath" along with the shipment. Not many do this, 10 or so, The NPIP test is done 1 time a year, things can happen between test, these heath certificates have to be done usually within 30 of shipping.

Tony, Im pretty sure purely poultry is a business and not a hobby breeder like us. Im guessing his prices are so high because A. He has to make a profit or hes out of business.B,He totally replaces dead birds and ships em again (that right there is why they are 200 dollars. If I shipped birds, box u.s.p.s. it would be around 100 dollars(and Im not garranteeing anything except mine would be Pure Red Goldens and healthy when I boxed them ) Im also betting tonys is pure as is purely poultrys is as well. Just because there is a male lady amhearst in his web pic doesnt mean they are not pure(Although I dont think thats a good pic for trying to sell PURE red goldens)

I too have kept different species together(Never ever during breeding season BTW!) Also if I want something bad enough Ill pay more.

AS soon as I figure out how to post pictures, I'll post my 100% pure Red Golden Breeder males. I bought my original pair 25 years ago,
F1 out of wild caught birds. Paid $250.00 for the pair, bred this line for years and introduced a F3 pair 6 or 7 years ago out of imports from Kurt Landig. Original male lived 17 years and fertile every year. Alien

The birds are 40.00 pr shipping 60.00 with box.I would have to see what it cost to get a health certificate,so I can't qoute a price on that.
As I said I have never had any trouble with shipping, but if a bird was to die,I would refund the money for birds lost, providing the buyer sends me proof of death.
Someone is offering to buy both trios,so I will have to give them first option. In N.H.,Tony.

They were $45 the other day, why the 11% drop in price?

Depending on the vet, depending on which one we use, health papers usually cost us $25 to $35 if we bring them into the clinic and they only have to look at the animals.

So $45 pr + $60 shipping/box + $30 health papers = $135 pr

Purely Poultry gets $199.99 that would make a difference of $64.99

Purely Poultry does alot of promotion for the poultry world, trying to make a profit while providing catalogs, websites, info, books, etc is not an easy task.

Couple more thing I would consider:

1. If my prices are that much cheaper, am I selling them to cheap? the price of feed, brooding, etc keep increasing; should the price of those birds go up also.

2. If someone else is selling birds more than me, it just makes it alot easier for me to sell mine.

I Read This Earlier The Other Day And Kind Of Thought The Same Thing... By The Time You Spend 120-130 A Pr Then Sell Them And Add Your Own 60 For Shipping On Them There Isnt Much, If Any, Profit Being The Middle Man.

Granted Its Still More Than I Would Pay (sorry Purely Poultry, Its Not Anything Personal, Just Plain Economics) But Many Folks Will Obviously.

As A Deal Shopper I Would End Up Buying Directly From The Breeder.--- Thats Just Me, And If Somebody Wants Something Bad Enough They Will Pay For It--- Thats Supply And Demand Right There, Nothing Simpler About It.

If You're Truely Thrifty You Wait Til Fall And Buy 2 Yr Old Breeders From Someone Like Randy Who Wants To Reduce Stock For The Winter... You Get Fully Mature And Ready To Produce Birds, That Are Completely Colored Out At A Lesser Price. (told Ya- Deal Shopper
smile.png
) You Then Collect And Hatch Eggs From Them And Raise The New Generation As You Want Them With A Better Hatch Rate Than Shipped Eggs And Lesser Amount Of Time, Money, And Effort Invested. And You Know What They Are Because They Are Already Mature And Colors Are Visible... Its Always Been The Conundrum With The Ruffed Beauties- They Take Up To 2 Yrs To Fully Color Out So If Their "purity" Is Questionable By The Time You Know For Sure The Deal Has Been Done For 1 1/2 To 2yrs--- Not Much You Can Do About It By The Time Its Apparent.

By The Way Randy, That Was Pretty Sneaky Way Of Making Your Point

But A Very Good Point Nonetheless.

I See Both Sides Of The Fence. Neither Is Right Or Wrong In All Honesty,,, Tho After Doing The Math I Wonder How Purely Poultry Makes These Numbers Work? Agriculture Business Is Tough, Lotsa Of Work Lil Or No Pay.
