Only one of my three will squat, yet all of them are laying. The one who squats, I call it a "squat and shimmy" as she kind of stamps her feet really fast at the same time.

Most of my chickens will squat if I come up to them. I'll give them a pat. I do have a couple chickens that just try to run and won't squat at all, but they lay (they're over a year old). It's my flightier, less tame hens that are like that.
