If the cross beak is bad you would be better off to cull it and be done. To raise those birds requires a lot of care in the beginning and a huge commitment. If the beak is bad they will never be able to eat normally and will require help to get enough nutrients. Many of them limp along struggling to survive and eventually end up failing to thrive and passing on their own. To me it is far less cruel to take care of it quick int he beginning.
