Picture of my starving chickens.

The full figure, the glossy healthy plumage, the vibrant colors do seem to indicate adequate nourishment. Also, my chickens only turn down offered food if they are already *very* full. But what do I know?

What do you say to someone like that??

"Thank you for your concern. I assure you, I won't let my beautiful chickens starve."

Have you entered that gorgeous blue chicken in the BlueBirdBrawl on BYC? There's a prize!

Well thank you for saying it out loud to endure the criticism for us! We actually lock our chickens in their coop til 9 or 10 am so they'll eat some proper feed out of sheer boredom. But for 2 days, they went to bed with their "unaboob" so full of whatever they eat while digging to China, they haven't touched their feed. I sniffed the feed and DS tasted it, its fine. They just prefer plump tasty little moths and the mosquito babies they're farming in a wet frisbee on the driveway.

One day, I want to film a chicken for 3 minutes in a 3x3ft patch of suburban lawn. It's AMAZING how many things they find and eat. Things we didn't ever know about

They are so pretty! One of the reasons we got chickens to begin with was to keep the bug population down, well, I overfeed them, and the little fatties never want to leave the coop! Oh well, at least the bugs are happy!

my chicks love free ranging too. the eat all sorts of things. they are smarter than many give them credit for. they eat in the neighbors compost pile. haha. she hates this. she is scared of chickens. guess she is the chicken. lol.
