Picture Of The Week (POW) Information & Submissions

Are they friendly?? I’ve read mixed things so I’m curious! ❤️
Typically, for large fowl, no, but for bantams, yes. It is so weird how Rhode Island Reds have such a different personality in their different size classes. The large fowl Rhode Island Reds are usually dominant, aggressive and prefer to not have much human affection. The bantam version is basically the complete opposite of that. For that reason, the bantams are what I like. I have a Rhode Island Red Bantam. I would talk about how sweet she is but I am afraid I would turn this paragraph into an essay.

Oh no…ours aren’t Bantams. My hubby just surprised me so I didn’t have much say in what he got. We have small kids so that makes me nervous 😬

Do not worry, the dominant and aggressive part is towards other chickens. Sorry for not making that clear enough. They are typically very high on the pecking order is all. The large fowls are kind of like the chickens that your grandma or something would have-really good foragers, do their own thing, let their human feed them but rather be off to themself than being cuddled.
