Picture Of The Week (POW) Information & Submissions

Such a nice feather!
Here is the link of a Pekin rooster crows, it is not loud and he does take a break in between.

I once had a standard size rooster and he crowed a long super loud sound that I feel can cut the sky in half. He wore a no crow collar to ease the sound a bit.
Are you sure the Pekin rooster doesn’t wear a no crow collar. Because he sounds as if he has one on.

If this is a normal sound for Pekin rooster, Im very interested in getting hold of a few eggs in the future (complete atm).

It will be a hard search bc in the Netherlands they seem to think that Pekins are the same breed as bantam Cochins

I have no idea whether that youtube rooster wears a no crow collar or not as it does not say. I do not have a Pekin rooster so I have no idea really. You and Me both, I like that rooster is not so loud.

At first I thought the same that Pekin is Cochins. I looked through many photos online and noticed that the Pekin has what looks like a Artichoke flower at the end of their body, very round flower where as Cochin does not have this feature.

My Pekin hens are very quiet, they do make sound, but their sounds are so cute and quiet, that is including the egg song. I just love how they look, the sound they make, how the leap/hop when they run.

I have two hens that aren’t quiet at all, one kind of sounds like it’s trying to crow, and the other has a loud egg song
Luck of the draw a bit I suppose

He actually has very weird silked feathers on one side
The no crow collar cuts the white cockerels crow to about a quarter of the usual volume, makes it shorter too
That could be why that youtube rooster crows is so short.

I had a standard size rooster not long ago and he wore a no crow collar, still he crowed his mighty crow only not at its full volume, but his crow did not shorten/interrupted. It was continuous and he crowed while sitting flat down. I read that they only crow standing up, apparently not all are like that.

That’s unusual, I was lucky that my guy took to the collar so well, he didn’t like it at first but got used to it fast

Idk if this can be a submission because I don’t own these but adorable ducklings at a local show
Are you still having shows with all the bird flu going around.

Or wait. Chook is Australian.

Shows were banned immediately every time there was an outbreak where I live. (NL)

Dovie is beautiful, very interesting almost dark brown, but not really and with some white colour at the tip of the feather.

I just noticed on your profile:
"Once I had a life, now I have chickens". I am intrigue what does it mean? 😄
Thank you.
I once had a life, now I only have time for chickens. Lol.
