Pictures of my flock

This one was a bit poopy so I had to bring them in to wash up. I think the brown one is an EE.

Good looking bunch of babies. Love the idea of using the pet carrier for a brooder. I would have never thought of that. And i'll use about anything that will keep them safe and warm.

I had to have something that would keep the cats out and it was handy! Works great except that they kick the bedding out through the door. I love pine pellets more than shavings, but they sure are hard to step on barefooted in the morning

THIS is the chick: "she" is such a sweetie and has "strange" wing feathers compared to any chick I have grown out before.

You can kinda see how the "flight" feathers on the edge of her wings are really long compared to the rest. I've never had a baby chick feather this way...

Other pix from tonight are also in the album.

Well I lost my first chick. The grey chick that I posed about yesterday, suspected to be a blue Orp, died on me. She seems to have escaped from the brooder (doghous with a ramp door) and tried to go UNDER it and got caught. She was stiff when I came home from work so I had to bury her. She was my favorite of that group.

I'm gonna name this big boy Jailbird due to his stripes. Wonder what he was looking at so funky? lol

Ha, cute dog.
What kind of chick is the dark colored one on the far left in the chick group picture? It's a pretty color.

The big one? She's a Cuckoo Maran pullet. The big striped ones are the cockerels of the same breed. They are typically color sexable, although sometimes they can be tricky - my second cockerel was hiding as a pullet until his feathers started coming in. They are from BYC's ChickyTocks.

The smaller black ones with white on the head (looking at the camera) SHOULD grow up into Barred Rocks, but they are from TSC and I'm not 100% sure.

New arrangement inside coop. I added the small doghouse that my neighbor gave me, hopefully it will be used for a nest box!!!
I had to move the feeder to accommodate the arrangement.

Here's a pic.
