The Buff Orpingtons, they are a bit less "tame" and spend more time alone together

Penny still hasn't laid an egg and I know the boys have been after her for nearly 2 weeks now. I'm starting to get impatient!

Penny FINALLY laid her first egg! I reached in the nest after dark, only halfway seeing the eggs so expecting a Large Longhorn egg and got all super excited when it was a little pullet egg instead!!!!!!! I figured she'd find the nest box, since there's almost always a Leghorn egg in there for a "decoy" and she did!

Also, my Redstar, Queenie laid an odd speckled egg today. Usually hers range from light brown to medium brown, occasionally with white speckles, never have gotten a brown speckled egg out of her before! But she lays in her own nest, and it's definitely a mature sized egg, so it HAS to be my only brown-laying hen who is Queenie. Hmmmm

Here's a pic of the 4 eggs I got today. There was another Leghorn egg laid that got eaten - I think it was broken accidentally and then cleaned up, because the other eggs remained untouched. Really all my laying girls laid! Go ladies!

ETA: She is younger than I was thinking. They are just 21 weeks old as of last Saturday, according to where I've been keeping track on google calendar. I KNEW it had to be soon when I saw my mature rooster after her earlier this week.
