Turkey vultures may not choose to kill and eat adult chickens, I cannot give evidence for or against- however a pen full of dead chicks, with one lone survivor found outside where she was dropped, clearly shows them to be opportunistic eaters, who will dine on babies live or dead if they can be found and got to.
I had a dozen young pullets right out of the brooder which were let out of their secure house to range in a fenced but uncovered pen.
A pair of vultures made short work of the 11 victims, with the one survivor located by a neighbor wandering in the street a half block away from the pen. Penned birds are now protected by netting overhead.
