It was just something that popped into my head. All the different prints were from the I-spy fabric swap we did last year. We swapped 6 1/2 inch squares The balloons themselves are about 6 inches by 5. I just cut a balloon shape out of plastic and made the little basket to fit. I've got another in the works that will have a small clown standing in the corner and in his hand will be strings leading up to big balloons.

The chicken and the balloons were the easiestl Just round and round the edges and done. Something I do, Gin, find a color totally opposite from the thing you are appliquing and use that to sew your applique down. zig zag, tree, feather, or whatever fancy stitches you have around the edges. It just adds pizzaz to the applique. Bright green, neon orange, banana yellow, deep red, even black!

Now all those peiced quilts these ladies have posted. Oooooh no. They aren't going to come out the same. I have to make something much bigger than I want it so by the time I trim it up, I have enough fabirc left to make block!!

I had decided when I turned 40 to learn or try something new each year. I took quilting lessons, which I loved, but the teacher hurt her back and could not complete the classes (we were just up to sandwiching, binding, and quilting the finished piece!) The teacher that took over was not as motivated (shall we say) and although I finished the sampler, I never really "learned" how to finish my quilts. That said, I have tons of quilt tops made, but not completed. It's almost 9 years later and I don't remember a thing, but would love to get back into my quilting. Any quilters in CT that want to give lessons? I'm in the Naugatuck Valley Area.
