Pied gene in chickens?

F1. 1 has tips of its featjers that are white and is growing a black white tipped beard. the other 2 dont have any feathers except on their tails and wings.

No pied phenotype in chickens. No genes to express the pied phenotype from generation to generation. Might get something from a hybrid.

after reading the article again I guess they didnt get the pied im looking for in adult plumage only in the chicks. I think if you look this up it should get you to the article, but i csnt find the direct link again.Genetic studies in poultry.V. on a case of pied plumage.
 
Sometimes mottled chickens have youth feathering with a white belly. Pitty it goes away.

Then there is the phenomenon of white tail feathers in for example black japanese bantams. There once existed white tailed black japanese bantams.
Everyone selects against that though.

[/quote]thats a shame. my black chicks look like pied guinea babies but are turning out black with white tips.
 
I have asked the same thing, if you could get pied in the wild jungle fowl colour that would be impressive! The closest I have is my white crested partridge rooster, now imagine him with white flights, white in tail and a bit of white on the body!
