Pigeon Bulletin Board?

Pics
Well it's been a bit of a couple of hours here. Getting the pigeons ready for a flight I noticed quite alot of blood. Turns out #68 (no. name!) has had a punch up with as yet an unknown assailant. The back of his neck has a wound about the same size as a dime. I cleaned him up and put some wound powder on him/her. There seems to have been quite alot of blood loss so I've put him/her in isolation for a while. I let humf out with beau #64, who promptly wouldn't leave the platform. So I let 4 others out who were all a bit confused as to why they weren't all going out so I opened the hatch for a mass release! They all flew off, including humf who landed on the roof had a look round then flew off with the rest. Anyway long story short humf hasn't returned. Story of my life! Traps open, hopefully hell return but I'm not holding my breath. I suppose you can take the bird out of the wild but you can't take the wild out of the bird. At least he's alot bigger and he had a bath before he did his flit.

I have removed missies bandage. She seemed very grateful! Her wing is sitting about the same height as her other wing now. I only tried a little bit of movement and she seemed in some discomfort so I let her be. She can lift it like as if she is shrugging, so I'm hopeful it's mostly fixed. I think that it will be quite some time before she gains full movement but I'm not going to rush her. She is preening her feathers now.
I'm also going to let humf out with beau later. I just hope he feels this is home now. He has been using the Bob wires no problem. :fl if humf flys and returns that will be my whole loft flying!
Hope she starts stretching and using it..:fl:fl
I'm starting to encourage her to use the wing and I'm going to try a liquid calcium supplement. I'm not even certain there is a fracture. Hokumcoco and Backyard Pigeons reminded me thhey can lose the ability to fly temporarily for other, sometimes mysterious reasons. So I'm not seeing a reason to bandage. It only droops occasionally and she soon gets it back in place. I'm trying to decide if she stays outside or I bring her in....or make a protective cage for her in the loft as I try to reintegrate her. She'd probably get more intensive PT if I bring her in...but then I can't use non-stick cookware and end up with take out.:th
Hopefully the calcium wil help!:fl
Just do what you can, when you can..:hugs

:hugs #68's wound sounds like Doba's.
Humf may think about returning when he gets hungry.:fl

It bled alot but its not really that bad. Just superficial. I took the feed out this morning not last night like I normally do, so he may return when hungry. Its normally between the next morning and 3 days when they go wandering!

So is it a scalping or a laceration? I feel like the bleeding helps clean the wound and I don't like to clean it much so that a protective scab forms quickly. ..I just hate it when they fight!:barnie

More laceration. It had started to scab up but was still fairly bloodied around the area. I have some anti bacterial wound powder that seemed to dry it up a little. His perch was covered in blood so I've had to clean up and disinfect. That's the thing with them though, they seem to live all happily together, then bam, then it's over!

Head wounds are known to bleed heavily. He's in good hands.:)

Wow, alot happened today! I have found blood in my coop before and after examining each bird i found one was missing a toenail so if you ever see blood again check toenails. @Chickencountryuk im glad the mojority of your flock returned. I forgot are they homers?
Yes. When they want to be!
I thought that it was a toenail at first because of all the blood on the perch. The mesh floor can sometimes snag them when they walk on it. I'm thinking of putting boards down instead.
