pigeon eggs again

Amazing, 1 axact week after dumping the dud eggs in the bin a have one new egg.

1 quik question?
when i went to go check the egg. I jiggled the nest abit, but the mon stayed on top of them. Did i damage the egg at all by jiggleing the nest. I mean will the inside of the egg be ok?

It was only a tiny look at and put down, just a jiggle of the nest.

I know i worry aloot but if you can help with the question it would help/

I so happy, it took them ages for the first two eggs, but i geusse because it was ther first time

The egg should be fine. If she was still sitting on it, she protected it.

I often pick the eggs up from under the pigeon and inspect them. You are just excited and overly cautious.

I think things will be just fine this go round I have a good feeling. You have a devoted pair and a second egg should arrive tomorrow in a perfect world.

Yeah i think i was over reacting, there was this site that said before 7 day of there icubation the eggs can be jiggled around a bit to have a look. But then after those days you have to be really gentle. Now i know i have not done anything wrong, I will leave them alone,

they are a awsome pair. there young will be so happy.

I will let everyone on any updates.

Just another question.

there are two more days left of heat around 15 to 20 celcius. In two more days the nights are going to dip down to 5 celcius. How can i try and keep there nest area warm so the eggs dont get to cold? I have roofing over the nest and i could put more blankets on top but would this make any difference?

Relax everything is going to work out.

I had pigeons hatch out eggs on 26 & 27 of December with no extra heat. I had temperatures of -40º.

I did nothing to protect the squabs until they were so large that the parent could not incubate them. Then I fashioned this.

Here are the squabs that survived Jackie and Frostie.

You just have to let nature take it's course of you may kill them with kindness.

Pigeons do not like anyone tampering with their nest or they will abandon the hatch in a heart beat.

Take a breath and remain calm 19 more days and you will have squabs.

Here is a picture of my loft. I live in Canada. No insulation no extra heat ¼ plywood sheathing no problems.
Pigeons can handle the cold no worries!.

Bless your heart! I do understand your concerns, but like Hokum said..... just relax. Pigeons are tough birds and when it comes to parenting....they know best. My advise is to just leave them alone and let them do their thing. All you need to do...is make sure they have feed 24/7, clean water to drink, and safe from any predators. The less you intervene....the better parents..... they will be with this first hatching. Even though.... they are a young couple....they do know what they are doing!
