Well, SOMEONE is feeling better today... he is squeaking up a storm and smacking at my hand with his good wing every time I get near him... also, peanuts are NOT a hit apparently...

I left a few halves in there last night, I'll see if they vanished tonight when I clean the cage. It's still dark when I leave in the morning so I just refill water and add a little bit of seed for him to eat for breakfast when he wakes up, then he gets his big meal for dinner while I'm here.Awesome job with your rescued bird -Felix.
For the peanuts, step one is to put few out so they can try them. Doesn't take long but the do have to learn about the yumminess of peanuts.
Once they learn to love them then they are great taming/training aids.
And I would break each half into smaller pieces.

Ah ha, so we have squeaking, so it is a squeaker, a young bird. Likely under 3 months of age.
I'd be shocked if those peanuts are still there in the morning. They love them, and they learn fast.
They are like Kung-fu masters with the wing chop! On a nest they are even worse. A male will even give you a growl with the chop.
Glad Felix is doing better.![]()
Lol, yeah, just ask my cats, I don't let animals decide how things are done... I mean, my cats come when called, wait at the door when told, and if you tell them "Back" they will back down 1 step and wait so you can go into the basement without them all running upstairs...I think you are hearing his squeaks (transl- Bring me my food!) bc he is comfortable with you as the food provider.
Sounds good about the wing.
The wing chops say to me he/she is beginning your training.![]()
I knew you would get my meaning when I saw the variety of creatures in your household.Lol, yeah, just ask my cats, I don't let animals decide how things are done... After he wing chopped at me, I grabbed his grumpy little butt and stuck him in the ferret litter box so he would be out of the way while I changed his newspaper out.. It's cute, he even draws himself up and tries to look mean while doing wing chops...
