Beautiful birds!I got some pictures of my flock today. Put in some new box perches on my flyer coop, and the baby on the bucket is the one with red eyes. it's hard to see on camera, but not in person.View attachment 2183626View attachment 2183627View attachment 2183628View attachment 2183629View attachment 2183630View attachment 2183632View attachment 2183633View attachment 2183634View attachment 2183635View attachment 2183636View attachment 2183637View attachment 2183638View attachment 2183639View attachment 2183641View attachment 2183642View attachment 2183645
Did you forget to post a pic or link of the grit you are asking about? Anything is prob ok short term.I know I have already asked about grit in a different post, but I cannot find any pigeon grit locally and they have to order it. My birds may be here before I find some. I did find this and was hoping I could use it temporarily until the pigeon grit came in. If not I’ll feed it to my chickens and go another route but figured i would ask here first. Thanks for any and all replies.

Looks like it will work to me. Try not it over complicate things at first, just focus on the basics. And don't rush into racing, there's a ton to learn this first year with pigeons, just focus on keeping them happy and healthy, then add racing.I sure did, just added it!
Just remember that pigeons were here on earth loooooong before Pigeon Supply Stores were. Grit is just stones that birds pick up themselves from the ground. There is no shortage of little stones/pebbles on earth. If you would just go out into any open area, like a park, and sweep up whatever is on the ground, you would end up with an assorted size particles. Those placed in a dish would give pigeon a choice which to ingest. I used cracked oyster shells free-choice in a dish if I was out of grit. When I did have, purchased red grit, I mixed in some oyster shells in also. I let the birds decide what they want. Never had any grit related problems.I know I have already asked about grit in a different post, but I cannot find any pigeon grit locally and they have to order it. Very well said!Just remember that pigeons were here on earth loooooong before Pigeon Supply Stores were. Grit is just stones that birds pick up themselves from the ground. Purchased grit is just an easier way to supply what birds need.
