Pigeon Talk

They generally take 18 days to hatch.
Ok! I can't wait. It's the cutest little eggy ever.

Try to minimize bothering them. If they happen to wing slap at you, it may very well break the eggs.
I definitely will. I hand raised both the mom and dad from since they were a week old, and they'll both fly to my arm/eat out of my hand/let me pet them, etc. They're extremely friendly. When I went to check the nest she just made some little cooing sounds, and let me lift her up. Same with the male. They're adorable.
But I'll leave them alone, don't worry, haha!

Just leave that momma alone ! :rant

She isn’t quite so violent now. :D That was probably her first hatch. I just wanted her to know I wasn’t going to hurt them. And I may have just been trying to video that for reference.

I usually band legs around day 10. By then, they are much more calm too.

My latest failed experiment:
I discovered a nest on the ground the other day, up under the coop. I decided to try to give her a bowl, so I added one of those nesting pads to the bottom, a couple leaves, with some nearby, moved the eggs into it, and put the bowl back on the ground where she had the eggs. She inspected it for a while, I even saw her get on the edge of the bowl. But apparently she didn’t like it and never sat on the eggs again. I finally removed the bowl and the eggs hadn’t developed anyway, so either I was too quick, or they just weren’t fertile. I’m not sure how long she had been under there.
