I need to look this up.Do you plan on releasing for loft flights when you think they are homeset??
I considered changing Louis’ name after I found out she was a girl, but at this point it’s stuck. XDThose names get me super confused.. Guess I'm ole skool.I personally would rename Bert to Bertha,, and King Louis to Queen Louise..

Thank you! She’s one of my favorites, too.Lovely! I think Bert is my fav.![]()
You may consider doing it with the young ones that hatch out in your loft. Then you can also release the parents,,, but only to run around your back yard,, (not fly).. That can be done with clipping their flight feathers..I’m not good at pigeon terminology yet. What is that? Is that like letting them out to free fly? If so, then no. They were all wounded at some point or another before I got them, so the HS said they’re not allowed to be out.
I’ve heard that pigeons can still fly with their wings clipped if there’s a strong wind (unless the feathers are clipped extremely short). Personally, I let my pet pigeons run/fly around in my house since it’s safer and they can still retain all their flight abilities, but I understand that is not for everyone. You may consider doing it with the young ones that hatch out in your loft. If you are ready for such,,,, ask and we can guide you thru that process. Both the training of your young ones,, and the wing clipping.
