Ash red is one of the three basic colors, with blue and brown. Ash red is the most dominant and will cover blue or brown. My Ash red cock 'carries' blue and the proof is in the blue flecks in the tail feathers. They are also called silvers bc of the overall look.
So you could say he is an ash red bar. If he were an ash red check i don't believe he would be called silver, wouldn't have the silvery look.:)

It would make more since if they were called red bars. I mean we have blue bars but it stops there!

Also, did you all know that if a pigeon has black flecking on its tail, its a cock but if its brown flecking, its a gen. Its accurite as far as i can tell so far, if it soesnt go with the ordinary coler. Example the one in my avy, it wouldnt be accurite since its got brown spots throughout its self. Although it is a hen. I learned the from the president of the race club in my area.
Interesting.. is that with all pigoens or just specific breeds?
she's really pretty! :love

@Fields Mountain Farm the ones with red stripes are called silvers. There is another name for them but i cant remember @biophiliac does! Sadly, rollers dont have that coler (that ive seen).

@WVduckchick i like your pics! He almost looks like he wont resemble his parents much? But i dont know!

I can kinda see the lacing starting, I would expect it to look like the parents. If not, oh boy we will have a mystery on our hands. :D

I have just got a bantam cochin hen.! I kidnapped her! She's got a bad leg. Necrotic tissue on leg

Love my cochins! That's why I let so many girls sit this spring/summer. Now I have way too many boys. Bantam cochins sell well in my area. I probably have 50ish now?
Couple pics I took this morning

I saw that, about the black flecking, on a video recently. Glad to see it is staying consistent in your observations so far.

Its funny how inconsistent the nomenclature is for them. I'm getting it, but still get confused.

Ds1 is moving out of his bungalow this wk and into an apartment with his gf.. his bungalow needs a bit of insulation but as soon as we can get some Charity will be able to move into it and I get her camper! :celebrate
IF dh is still on bored..:fl
