@Fields Mountain Farm its getting warm! My pigeons are breeding! When are you getting yours? Is the loft build still a prob? Do you have any old chicken coops that you could get a year of breeding out of? Then build a better suited loft? Have you decided on a breed?

Its all still up in the air..

It's well layed out and easy to reference things. It covers most problems I think. The only ones it doesn't will probably be the ones I get!

Not totally blocking off. I was building a front like this, with a flap door and bars:

If I was going to use this type of nest box it would be to either force mate a specific pair or use as widowhood. It will keep the youngsters safe from the others when they are still in the nest but you still need to allow the parents out for feed and water unless you use gallipots.

I was working on a front for Trips nest box, but got to wondering if it’s actually necessary. Is blocking them off more for protection that the squab doesn’t get out, or that other adults don’t get in?

It's more for other birds not coming in. I don't have blocked boxes. It would be really hard to clean. So it's up to you!
