Pigeon Talk

Well, both squabs have hatched. At least I saw one fully out and the other looked like it was half way out. The egg was in half, but it’s butt was still in the bottom half.
Couldn’t see anything during their swap and it’s cold today, so I didn’t want to bother her too much.

But I did record the hand off, of her taking the nest back.
Sorry it’s a bit wonky, I recorded the iPad screen with my phone.
At the beginning, Trip runs off one of the other birds, then comes back to take her place on the babies. And Rocky flies away. Good daddy. :D

Congratulations WV! I'll be going back to look at the video a few more times. Can't help myself, you birds are so pretty.:D I googled the Wyze cam you mentioned. It gives the temp range as 32°F to 104°F, which doesn't cover the cold here. :hmm How are you liking it?

Hmmm I missed that little ditty lol!
So far, I like it. I got 2, this one is placed temporarily overlooking that nest. I want to put it in a opposite corner to get a better view of more birds, including my duck area.
I made a temporary stand and covered it with a plastic bowl, in case of a little rain. They aren’t weather-proof, but I would disconnect it if we get a downpour. The app is pretty easy to use, setup was a breeze, but it’s not available from desktop. iPhone, iPad, or Android only, at the moment.

how long did you wait to see them swap!? So pretty!

Lovely! I like her clean feet. Is she a satinette? I've spent the last three days binge reading this thread.... had to bite my tongue a few times to not post but to wait it out and see what happens with the various stories. :) Love Olives story, she is so pretty!

She is an Old German Owl. She is the best little bird! Every day she gets a little more trusting and more and more affectionate.

I just noticed she was back on the nest when I went out to feed. Hadnt been more than an hour since I had been out. The camera app lets you scroll thru the playback fairly easily, so it wasn’t hard to find.

*phew* Finally made it to the end of the thread. Good news bad news.... Good news is I LOVE birds.... most any bird. In the past I've had dove, finch, tiels , a macaw, quail and currently have chickens and ducks and a pair of wild Canada geese that have raised a clutch of 7 each of the last two years, not that I had anything to do with those. :)

Bad news is I REALLY don't need any more birds but I really like the satinettes. I spent a year or more researching chickens before I got them, at least six months of research before I got involved with ducks... so I figure I've got at least three months of research before I get any pigeons.:lol:

I won't mention that I already found some for sale within 2 hours and a friend of mine in another hobby knows a guy that goes to Belgium to pick up his racers. I may be in trouble.

A questions about the fantail that was found and nursed back to health. Would he fly home now that he is healthy if he was released?

I have had a 110 gal marine aquarium in the past. I miss it sometimes but the maintenance was too much and I'm too far away to have someone come out and care for them when I travel. Pic attached of early tank, cant find the mature pics with the nem. IMG_0175 (2).JPG

I admit I skimmed over the reptile pages pretty quickly. LOL

Wow! Thanks for hanging in there with us. You should have just jumped right in!
Sure sounds like you are in pigeon trouble to me!
They are pretty amazing birds, seriously. And it’s so fun that we have such great pigeon folks here! On a chicken forum!! (I may never have gotten any, if this hadn’t been the case, come to think of it....hmmm lol)

And I love that you love the Satinettes! They aren’t for everyone, but they have me wrapped around their little toes.
