Pigeon Talk

Well, both squabs have hatched. At least I saw one fully out and the other looked like it was half way out. The egg was in half, but it’s butt was still in the bottom half.
Couldn’t see anything during their swap and it’s cold today, so I didn’t want to bother her too much.

But I did record the hand off, of her taking the nest back.
Sorry it’s a bit wonky, I recorded the iPad screen with my phone.
At the beginning, Trip runs off one of the other birds, then comes back to take her place on the babies. And Rocky flies away. Good daddy. :D

Congrats! :jumpy It's all going on in your loft! I'm going to have a look at that camera.
Lovely! I like her clean feet. Is she a satinette? I've spent the last three days binge reading this thread.... had to bite my tongue a few times to not post but to wait it out and see what happens with the various stories. :) Love Olives story, she is so pretty!
It's quite some read from the start I should imagine! Not quite Lord of the rings but still action packed! Pigeons don't take up much space but do have a tenancy to take over!

I spent a year or more researching chickens before I got them, at least six months of research before I got involved with ducks... so I figure I've got at least three months of research before I get any pigeon
You sound like me! Lots of research before taking responsibility for a new specie. The more you learn about pigeons the more fascinating they become. ( @CCUK - where is the pigeon fishing emoji? haha) Do you know that thousands of pigeons served in the British military and dozens received medals for valor while saving many lives?

guy that goes to Belgium to pick up his racers.
Belgium is the absolute Mecca of pigeon racing!

estions about the fantail that was found and nursed back to health. Would he fly home now that he is healthy if he was released?
Probably not, unless home was next door. Fantails don't have a strong homing sense and they are much more vulnerable to predators than strong fliers like Racing Homers.

Mr Louis Janssen (RIP) one of the most famous pigeon fanciers of all time from Belgium of course. The family is world renown when it comes to pigeons. Their birds dominate the pigeon racing skies. The family's loft was finally banned from pigeon racing at one juncture.

LOL! Probably. I'm going to hatch some Kiki quail for the Easter HAL. i'm trying to figure out how I can use my Retriever Kennel as a loft/quail grow out pen and occasional duck grow out pen. LOL Can you fly the satinettes? I would love to be able to fly birds. I'm not so interested in doing longer flights "toss"? Unless it is white birds for weddings events. Do you use homers for that or do they fly to a trap? So much research to do! :)

It's all your fault! LOL

 sorry!

:lau not sorry :D

The cameras were fairly inexpensive. Not sure what shipping will cost you. They kinda have that “bubble” concave/convex look to them, but for the price, I’m pretty impressed with the technology and all. And they are making improvements.

Banned? Because they were too good??

Trip is still being hoggish with the babies. I barely got a small peek. I didn’t try very hard when Bonnie hatched Bugsy. I did handle Bugsy a bit, now she still won’t come to me. Should I try harder with these? Or leave them alone? I don’t want to handle them excessively, but I would love it if some trusted me a bit more. I’m not big on handling any of my birds, but I don’t want them scared of me either.

Empty egg shells, I pulled out from under her.
And Breezy and Duff posed nicely for me. Lol
