Pigeon Talk

You wanna watch out, they might be after your job! :lau
The other worry is,,,,, they may demand coffee first thing EVERY MORNING:gig

Not for me! I'm sure they would be perfectly OK but I'd rather have my chicken eggs! I should boil them up and give them to the chickens really, they would love them!
I do this when I find eggs in hidden nests. Have found nests with 15 eggs that a chicken has been stashing and sitting on. They are infertile since I have no roo. I just boil the batch and feed back to the hens.

Right just got back and went straight out to the loft! I usually do this anyway! Both rings had come off the squidgies so I replaced them. I haven't named them yet so at the moment they shall be known as #41 & #42. They hatched last Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday day. So 5-6 days old.
Here is #41 coming in at 52g. View attachment 1705817 Here is #42 also coming in at 52g.

So they are growing at an even pace.

Please don't tell the DW I used her cake scales!:lau

:clap :love

I have that same scale. That’s the one when they touch the buttons, it changes the modes! Lol
Not bad for squeakers that don’t move much, but hard as heck to weigh an adult duck or chicken :gig

This is the person I was comparing notes with:

I miss Eve! I had sent her a FB message when I first got the pigeons, or around the time my first squab hatched.

@WVduckchick are brewer and brick behaving?

They have done well. I’m about to feed them again. Actually the smaller one Brewer, does better at sucking out of the bottle. Brick is all over the place :D

Hands off my coffee! :p

I try to boil older chicken eggs and feed back to the birds, but I admit, I throw away a ton of eggs. I’m now getting 15-25 eggs a day. We can’t eat that many! I could give them away at work, but it’s time consuming to wash and refrigerate.

Oh also when I cleaned out their nest bowl, it was yucky, but worse than the yuck, it was damp in the bottom. I guess that very warm da
I usually clean and refresh the nest bowls at day 6 or 7 when I band. For some reason the nest poop doesn't dry out and I can't bear the mess. A few more days and they are able to poop over the side of the bowl, so that helps.
You probably already located this vid. He feeds seeds but I still like the pellet/water formula better bc food and water in one with no grit needed. They will be eating seeds on their own within a week anyway. At first I mix some grit in with seeds in a small dish so they are certain to ingest some.

Yes, I don't think it did. It's cool, but sad to see the parents. I wonder how pigeons feel when they're eggs don't hatch?
I sure hope they don't suffer much or they will hate me! I'm about to steal eggs#13 and 14...

If he is aggressive enough that you are worried your other bird will get injured, separate them. Keep us posted!
Agree.

My dog loves them. I hard boiled 10 and might try using 2 instead of plastic eggs.
Stopping point for the day. The guys were tired and I had supper ready.
Almost there! :thumbsup

Lost some of the other quotes so I'll just stop now.:lau
