How well do homers respond to loft renovations?
That is, if I were to replace my loft with a similar but larger and more efficient loft in the same spot, would I have issues with things such as getting the birds to trap in?
I built my loft to accomodate about 8 or 10 birds and I felt that there was plenty of room when I had my original seven squeakers but now that I'm down to three birds, two of which constantly bicker, I'm wondering if a total overhaul is in order. Like I said before I would love to have a whole shed-sized loft if I could but that's not an option unfortunately.

Do they use rabbit nest boxes? I have one of those still laying around; tempted to stick it in the cage with my cream yellow bar pair and see if they'd lay some eggs.

They'll lay in just about anything. Ledges, corners, etc. The bowls just keep them from throwing babies out.

Brick and Brewer doing great this evening. Up to 120 and 130 grams.

I'm not expecting babies from any of them until summer. The pouters are barely 6 months if that.

If you read the article...this isn't the first million dollar pigeon. And some can go for 100's of thousands. I'm stunned at the money some of these birds bring! Wow!

As long as the old one is GONE and the new one is in the same spot, you should be good. Although do resettle them again. Are you going to? Or just dreaming? I dream alot...

Yay, more homers on the thread! Nice colors/pattern. The 2019 birds are way young to breed, imo. By 6-7 months they may start pairing.


Laying it on its side might make it more appealing to pigeons as a nest vs a roost.

I think that’s a bit young also. Bugsy hatched Dec 3rd and she still runs from the males.

And I actually put it on the ground as kind of a wind block/something they could get into from the cold, if they wanted, since Clyde wouldn’t let them inside the coop. I put a flat board above it, they could hop onto. But Shadow chose to stand on the front. Lol
