Yes, I do agree. I have been trap training him this morning, and he is a star at it! I don't Think he learned that in the wild though!

Is your bird still acting healthy? Clear eyes and good droppings?

Yes. And she definitely has good droppings. Especially in quantity. She ate an entire dish full of food that would have lasted olive 3 days since last night. Except the peanuts I put on top. Olive could never eat them due to her little beak so I had them stored away. Rosie shouldnt have that problem but must have never seen peanuts before. I thought theyd be good to put weight on her.

She looks fairly happy with her new nest bowl! Do you know if she's a she or a he? Have you checked the pelvic bones?

Nah... She is so frail it makes me cringe a little to feel her underside as its so emaciated. I'm calling her a girl until I see reason not to. Her dainty face and features point to it at least. Most ferals and homers seem bigger... Not just heavier but longer.

She keeps getting her feet stuck in her wrap so I took it off again.She was able to stretch the wing and fold it normally and to flap both wings!

A batch of racers, all flyable except for one.

Oh wait, 9 a young feral that is probably 3 weeks. I asked, and it's perfectly legal. Went for one without eggs\babies. Got him tonight.

Hopefully you have quarantined the feral and treated for canker. Frequently feral birds carry a virulent form of Canker that they are resistant to but which can wreak havoc on domestic birds.

Yes, I am watching it closely. I haven't treated it yet, but will keep watching it closely. Thanks for the advice!

I wasn't sure if it was legal. I asked our wildlife management and they said yes. so tonight we went by a local bridge, and this guy could barely fly on the ground, by the road. So that's how it all happened! pics to come tommorrow.

Thumbs up on the feral. It is a way to infuse diverse genes into your flock also.
Pigeons are not considered wildlife, at least not here in US. They are actually considered PESTS in Chitown.
Not illegal to catch them,,,,,,,,, but ILLEGAL TO FEED THE FERAL FLOCKS that are hanging around parks and elsewhere.
There are peeps that still feed as long as the cops are not watching.
I have not seen granny set out on one of these yet.

Pigeons are not considered wildlife, at least not here in US. They are actually considered PESTS in Chitown.
Not illegal to catch them,,,,,,,,, but ILLEGAL TO FEED THE FERAL FLOCKS that are hanging around parks and elsewhere.
There are peeps that still feed as long as the cops are not watching.
I have not seen granny set out on one of these yet.

Yep! I figured I couldn't do to much harm. I could have gotten a few more, but they were older and I was worried they would have babys.

I was reading, and pigeons droppings has an incredible amount of acid, and so that they have been proven responsible to several bridge collapses, due to their droppings deteriorating the support beams. I can't remember where I heard that, so it may not have been a reliable source.

Btw, I didn't see any pure white ferals for you.

Well...... here is my opinion. In Chitown where the pigeons live under bridges, those bridges are over 100 years old. Not too many collapsing, as far as I see yet. There are always those that want to sound SMART, and like to point the finger somewhere. They never point the finger to the departments , that are responsible for bridge upkeep. A coat of paint would protect the steel from corrosion, which has the known ELEMENT present. Oxygen and Time.
I'm glad you got that feral. If you would have gotten the older ones, they very likely would have split on you , first chance they got. You would have had to resort to Alcatraz until you got some squabs out of them.

I already have enough prisoners, so there was no way I was going to catch another one!

Got her set up in a larger cage... Had to move my canary for the time being but now Rosie has a ledge and a branch perch. I've placed an order for a fluffy bed for her too. Though as she doesn't have any shelves to put it on she might choose to sleep on that ledge. Or actually ill try to get her a shelf today. She's eating her peanuts now and getting more lively.

She is very shy. I let her out and she ran to hide under a desk. But she is very gentle and likes to be petted.
