Pigeon Talk

OMG he's adorable!:love I didn't know they could establich themselves this far north. What would they find to eat in winter?

They're highly dependent on bird feeders, though they also eat berries lingering on tree branches in the winter. They survive the winters by building communal nests of sticks up to eight feet wide in which they huddle up during the coldest periods.

Wow, that's amazing. I can't help believing you were meant to find that bird!

It was extremely lucky timing. I've visited the spot where they nest exactly twice counting today but just decided to go and see them this morning. And then I suddenly just had a feeling, after walking along the road and looking at them for a bit, that I should look *down* and literally right there, to the side of me, he was there sitting in the grass. And he was alert and looked good, like he fell literally right before I showed up and wasn't down long at all.

Today I found a baby parrot while out walking! There's a colony of them, descended from escaped pets, that have a lot of big nests under a bridge nearby. He only has one wing! This little one jumped out to fly for the first time and must've fallen like a rock as a result. I just happened to come across it before a predator. The wing is healed and must have been hurt when it was very little but with this disability it would never survive out of the nest so for now but probably not forever he is a new member of my house bird flock... he's so young he can't eat on his own yet but I've gotten him to take formula. And he's so young, he doesn't have any fear of people either.

Meet Nemo.

Nemo is a very apt name! Sounds like we put you on the adopting band wagon;) as for Olives harsh poop we in the chicken world call that a "broody poop"
