Pigeon Talk

Whenever I read BLANCA,,, I just cant get these lyrics outta my cabeza:gig
De granada a Casablanca
Enterré mi fantasía
Una guitarra, y una gitana canta
Canta mi Andalucía
De llegar a Casablanca
Tú me bailas en la playa
Con tus ojos negros, chiquita
Y tu boca enamorada
Enamorada como tú (como tú)
Enamorada como tú (como tú)
Enamorada como tú (como tú)
Como tú, como tú, hay nadie como tú...

Hey folks! Try searching your browser for 'Spies in Disguise' movie trailer.
Haha! I have heard of it. I need to watch it. ;)
Hello y’all! I’m getting pigeons in the spring and have a few questions.

I was thinking of getting frillbacks does anyone have or know about these? There is a frillback breeder here in GA.

If I were to walk into the pigeon aviary and a pigeon got out the door what should I do?

What should my female to male ratio be? I’m getting around 4 or 5.

What should I feed them? I have read about a lot of different things to feed!

Some of my questions are probably obvious :p
hello there! good choice getting pigeons! You won't regret it. I don't think any of us in here do. Frillbacks are very cool, but I don't raise them.

of one were to escape, assuming it's homeset (which means knows that it lives in your loft, which will come with time) cage the others so they don't escape, and open the door wide open. After a bit of coaxing with food, it should figure it out. Btw, for frillbacks, once they have been in your coop for around a month, they should be homeset.

one male to one female. They pair for life, though sometimes they may cheat on their spouse... Make sure if you want to breed them to have nesting boxes that measure two feet long, sixteen inches o ut, and 12+ inches tall.it

I feed a mix that has popcorn (unpopped) oat groats, wheat, peas, milo, millet. I add extra wheat to it. any pigeon mix that you buy premises is usually suffecient. You want around 15% protein.

I hope this helps you. Feel free to ask any more questions.

@backyard pigeons how is blanca doing now?
Doing well! A little bit sore, but with the rest of the flock now. She looks terrible, cause her feathers are stained brown. Thankfully nothing was or is infected.
The red feral hen and her blue pied mate produced 2 red grizzles, so both are males. I just sold them for $10 each to the same man who bought the other babies. :woot. LOL
nice! How is his flock doing?

I miscounted losing my two fer A la that one fly a while ago. I also lost a racer. I counted a blue bar twice, so I thought I was good. But I wasnt. So I lost three bird in one fly. Two feral s and a racer. The fly before that was when the white got attacked. I have been seeing tons of sharp shinned and coopers hawks around. I am gonna fly the racers in a nice clear day to see if they can avoid them or not.

I also took out the dividing wall today in the flyers coop. The white and the racers are together. I don't quite know why I separated them at first? But they are enjoying the new space. There are a lot of whirlwind romances going on now too. :gig

While out of town in Rural King country, I purchased corn con bedding. 30 pounds for 5 bucks. I got 6 bags. Yall, if you have a rural king, get some corn cob bedding! It is amazing. It is so obsorbant, looks nice and the birds love it. Plus, the price is right. Three bags covered a 6×6 area for me. It's around two or three inches deep.

Hello all. Hope everyone had a nice holiday.
I've been quite busy this week and hadn't got a chance to give the sad news that the other squab also passed on Christmas day. It was another cold night and while the parents had fed it that morning and were sitting on it while I checked at night it was dead with an empty crop the next morning. That particular pair raised all the other birds that I currently have so generally they've been pretty good parents but it seems the odds were stacked against this clutch.
