Pigeon Talk

Time will tell, but with only 2 eggs in the nest my gut says that Brick is a male. I would guess that Bugsy has divorced Skye and hooked up with Brick.

Winner winner, chicken dinner!
I candled the eggs. One is developing, the other is not. And Brick was on the eggs this afternoon. When should I remove the infertile egg?

You do seem to be doing well so far! Have you any plans on what you want to do with them? Are you going to sell some or just have a massive flock :D!

I think I’ll list some for sale this year and see how they do. That will determine how much more I let them breed.

:love they sure have grown on me since you got them. I may have to get some in the bantam size sometime in the future.

BYP, congrats on your hatch, it sure is a cutie!
I’ll probably weigh and band mine this weekend.

They're a great little breed :love Their personalities are amazing. That's really what won me over. And they are always, always, friendly with humans and easy to handle. Not once have I had one that grew up to be skittish.

These little guys only come in bantam :) The O Shamo and Chu Shamo actually aren't related.

I know you’ve said they have the best personalities! Major plus for me.
(Surprisingly, my little d’Uccle cockerel has become quite the aHole) :p

And dummy me, thought the Ko and O were the same, just small and large. That’s for pointing that out!

I've been interested in Ko for awhile. I've heard they are really nice/friendly birds. I've got a pile of Speckled Sussex right now that I just love. But they pale in comparison to my turkey hen pets. I adore my turkeys!
Although, I'm getting interested in a house pigeon. That's Olives fault!

I'd leave the infertile egg until the squab is a week old or so. It will serve to act like a 'hot water bottle' if the parents leave the nest. I have never had a pigeon egg explode in the nest. There, probably jinxed you with that.

Glad you said leave it because I was about to remove it.
But if it explodes, I’m hunting you down, mister. :old

BP,,,, since I see you are on,,, just ran across something in your area. Maybe it can be of use for you.

Not sure if it is for $$$ or Gratis:idunno
Thanks! I pm them. But,,, they haven't been on since they posted it. Now, let me go scan craigslist!

No, but for real, thanks so much for looking for me. It would serve as a great sick\injured bird pen.

I agree. I never take out a infertile egg until the other egg hatches.
