Pigeon Talk

I’m back y’all! The pigeons kept pushing the bowl I put up for them off of the nesting site, and now they’ve started building... View attachment 2050549
I always see them selecting sticks.
The BOWL JUST adds convenience, AND IS NOT A NECESSITY. It contains the squabs from falling out, as well as keeps them close together when small, and under parent for warmth. If the nest area is elevated, you can fashion some makeshift border from boards or whatever on hand to keep LIl Junior from falling out of balcony.
I would not have concerns about splayed legs from your nesting area. It is not like they are on a SLIP, AND SLIDE surface. I had squabs that were hatched, and raised in a bowl nesting area, and both of them developed splayed leggs.:hit
BTW,, my thinking on feral pigeons making not such great nests, is,,,, they do minimal just to keep eggs from rolling of ledges :idunno

UPDATE: I think Kiwi is laying an egg... but I’m not sure. She’s just kind of sitting on the ramshackle nest, which’s sticks have all been pushed into a corner, and grunting. She seems to be kind of... pushing? Peach is standing near her and warning me off by grunting, and Kiwi has her head underneath him. Not too sure what’s going on but it’s definitely not normal Kiwi and Peach behavior...

I would not be surprised if she layed an egg and then a second one. :)

2 of three eggs have hatched in a nest here at 'dragon loft'.

I have 2 other pairs sitting on fake eggs. If the 3rd egg hatches, what are the chances of one of these adopting and raising it? @sourland @Hokum Coco ??

Qwerty....anything on your birds??
Not a trace of them unfortunately. I'm in a big pretty rural area but no big farms or anything so there really aren't any feral ones nearby that they might be caught up with. The weather was really bad Friday but they were gone since 9 am Thursday and the weather today was beautiful. Hopefully I see them in the next few days or I probably wont ever.
