Pigeon Talk

@sourland yes, oriental rollers can be mean!

@WVduckchick yes, ports are an awesome breed. I wish they were more populer. Are you considering getting some? Im hoping that i can show at the louiville national show this coming year! Im going to try to get some eggs laid NOW so they hatch right at the beggining of the year! Maybe then i could get some jacobins for two @Pyxis lol.

Lol, good luck! I would love some jacobins but I probably would have to have them shipped in. The pigeons shows are all too far from me for me to attend sadly.

If I found some in my area, I would definitely consider ports.

But look what I spied in a CL listing in my area! I’ve emailed the person, so we will see!
Their pic, and I see another on the other side of the wire.

Here’s Bugsy this evening. Crop is full, I saw Bonnie in there while I was feeding chickens, so she is apparently still feeding her, at least.

I scraped the floor (disposed of those shavings etc) and added another small bowl of parakeet feed. I still haven’t seen Bugsy out of the nest bowl except once.

Also attaching an outside view of their box.
And the last pic of the white box is currently occupied by my bachelor bantam cochins, but look how easy it would be to modify for pigeons! The whole front door opens upward, so I could easily remove it and modify inside to suit the pigeons. It’s large too, because I originally built it for black copper Marans that I no longer have.

Bugsy is a heart stealer for sure. She's going to have a crest where that duck curl is on her head, right?
Remember to give some small grit, for babies I mix it in with the seeds to ensure they get some.

Good spotting! The rest look like homers. Remember I said Satinettes are popular with racers as drop birds?:D

Good find! Poor thing prob has a tough time competing against racers. Is that a sat or a frillback on the other side of the wire? It almost looks like a mix. Idk.
