Yes you need to swap them out. If you just keep tossing them out the hen will lay and lay and deplete her body of nutrition. Ps youve got some pretty doves.

@WVduckchick is there a time when youll pick up the sats?

I know this is a pigeon thread but can I ask a question about doves. Well they keep laying eggs but I don't want them to hatch baby's for 2 reasons the first reason is I haven't cleaned their nest box since the last 2 hatched. The second reason is what if the helpless pink babies freeze to death. Anyway I wanted to know if they make wooden eggs small enough to fit under the doves? If you think I should let them brood the eggs and not throw them out please tell me.

Yes I have been worried about her health because I know doves are not supposed to lay that many eggs. I want her to be as healthy as possible because she and her mate will be the only doves I keep over the winter.

@Misfits Farm 92 very pretty doves, but I'm going to stick with my satinettes until I decide if I'll make room for more or what. I have tons of chickens! I'm leaning toward selling out of a couple chicken breeds, so maybe more pigeon room!

As far as the Sats, the fella has cancer, so he is awaiting doctor approval to even be able to go out to his loft. Plus being a long drive for us, and with the holidays and "lovely" weather, it may be a few weeks before we can make the trip. He is more concerned about rehoming his rollers and homers at the moment, and is willing to work with me on getting the Sats. So we'll see!

@Fields Mountain Farm could the aviary and the camper be used together? (are you meaning the hoop thing you made with the trampoline?) If it could be butted up to one end of the camper, you could make a window for them to be inside or outside.


Also I found the wooden eggs. I will be ordering some soon, probably today, but I'm looking at other things to order with them, so I have some decisions to make.
