@Pyxis ... link to pic of squab eating chicken pellet formula. Easier for me than putting seeds grit and water into beak separately as my fingers aren't as agile as they used to be, lol. Also, you don't need grit with my method and the water is included.

Oh and updte! The hen is 'hovering' over the egg. So it wont freeze! I decided against swapping due to the results last time. So hopefully another egg tommorrow!

This says they have "good" flying ability. I can't remember anyone on this forum having the breed, but I just got into pigeons recently, so maybe some of the others will know.

Yes I just found out they can't fly very good. I will still make a large pen but with more things on the ground.

Alright thanks all for the suggestion. I thought about hokums idea but it be tough with the box theyre in. This pair is my newest and super flighty. Last clutch, i took the egg to avoid it being chilled and put a dummy in there, then they layed there next egg on the ground and would NOT sit. I snuck one egg under a roller pair but didnt succesfully hatch. So i think im going to try to put a dummy egg under and bring it in till second one is laid. I will then play by ear. Ill also be ready to handfeed incase of worst case scenario.

Also bringing them inside is not really an option. Due to them not like being messed with and other members of this family

Those of you who are looking to get fake eggs. Get them at a craft store. I got them for 1.99 for 6. At hobby lobby.

Oh what I read said modenas don't fly good but I trust BYC more than Wikipedia.

Edit: I thought you said they can fly well.

I dont think i said they fly well. Perhaps someone else? But at the louville pigeon show i went to they did NOT look like they were built for flying. Small wings and fat body.

I had no idea about their flight ability, just that one site called it “good” so my bad.
