I personally call them a squab until they start to take flight. Then I call them a squeaker usually until they mate or give up that voice. Which ever seems to come first. It varies from fancier to fancier and loft to loft. How long is a squab call a squab?
She is by herself in a rabbit hutch opposite the main loft at the moment. The one with the broken wing still lives and does fine with the other birds otherwise? Can she mate?
Don’t feel bad, my shopping isn’t finished yet either, but we won’t be seeing some of our family until next weekend anyway.
Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow?![]()

I feel quite bad and sorry for her. I don't want to put her in the main loft as she can't get onto any perches or if any bullying was to happen. This is one reason I need an aviary!
I survived the shopping this morning even though I had to come home haltway through because I forgot my club card that had over £100 on it!
I have cleaned all the chickens and pigeons out, visited the family, now I'm chillin' waiting for the big man! I hope you've all been good this year! Merry Christmas everyone! View attachment 1623514
I don't really want to take any from the loft. It's not the best situation for her. I did think about putting her in the sick bay in the loft but she has alot more space where she is. I could do with a parlour roller that doesn’t fly to keep her company maybe or if my quail run was bigger? There is only two elderly girls in there but she might freak them out!Could you put another in with her?
Nice flying! Hope you have a fantastic Christmas!

Could do! I saw a poorly town feral yesterday. It looked like something out of a zombie movie for pigeons! The kids were like 'aww daddy' I'm like 'no stay away'! There's feral and there's town feral!Well maybe someone else will call you with another rescue that could end up with her.![]()
I have not liked calling mine squabs, a word I associate with a menu item in a fancy restaurant! lol I call mine squeakers as soon as they squeak! My loft, my call.Ah, thanks. That works for me.
I was thinking about the various chicken terms and wasn’t sure on the pigeon side.
I have the same dilemma w/Doba. I don't think it's a great life for a flyer, but can't bring myself to cull. I have had her in the loft under supervision twice for a few hours but she remains vulnerable to injury from the cockbirds.I don't really want to take any from the loft. I know. I didn't like to mention that but it is a possibility. I'm not hard hearted and whilst she is still healthy she's OK but quality of life is pretty low with not having the freedom that they are accustomed to.@WVduckchick !
