I would suspect you’d get sick of it happening so often!
I’m sure glad you were right too though. I’ll try to pay attention to when he gets up too.
What's up with the prev owners? Do all their chickens live in mud!I've been uber busy today and finally got around to giving her underside a bath. She was pretty mucky but she loved having a clean! She is alot smaller than speckle
Out of all of the pairings that I ever had only one hen would not let the cock help with incubation. After eating she would come back to the nest and peck at him until he left. She did let him brood the squabs.
I used to blame the lazy cock bird for short incubating turns, but I'm coming to suspect it's just as much the hen who decides the schedule. Each pair is just a little different, what makes them so interesting. Both Java and Shadow seem committed to parenthood so it should go well. Is hatch day around Feb 10? Are you going to candle to put to rest doubt about Java's gender? That’s pretty much what she did. He sat maybe 2 hours. I didn’t see her run him off, but she was milling around while I was feeding chickens, next thing I knew, she was back on the eggs.
I also checked, still just 2 eggs. (In case I’m still wrong about Java’s gender lol)

Pretty much. It has been wet over here recently. They are cattle farmers and also good friends. She also has a herd of reindeer that are very well tended. The chickens are a source of eggs for them, nothing more. They get fed and watered and that's about it. Some of the others are feathered leg breeds and they're all the same. I'm trying to put the guilt on her to care for them better. This is also the farm that has the white pigeons! What's up with the prev owners? Do all their chickens live in mud!![]()
Bet SANTA pays premium for that care...She also has a herd of reindeer that are very well tended.
