Pigeon Talk

In chickens a neck like that is a wry neck. Usually seen in chicks. So that is why I thought he was ill. He is mostly fine and mychickens can’t catch anything. I did check him for mites. His tail feathers are a little poopy and ragged.
He may have been loose for a few days. Do you know anyone local to you that has pigeons? Could you ask about? We have a local Facebook group for my area, if you have one you could put a shout out for someone who may know.

I know what his head looks like , dying to see the rest of him. Does he have lacing on his wings like the photo @Pyxis posted?

The gamebird might be too high in protein for long term. Approx 11% to a high of 15 or 16% protein for race birds is typical. Is the GB ration pelleted and most importantly is he eating it? He could be used to pellets or he could be used to a seed mix from his prev home. If he eats pellets then an all flock type is a better choice. If he doesn't recognize or eat the pellets then you can easily make him a proper seed mix using basic wild bird mix as your base and add some corn, safflower, and field or maple peas.

Clever girl you! :highfive:Our friend @Fields Mountain Farm will look like an old hand when she gets her first birds this spring.:)
No way! Im still trying to absorb all of this wonderful info here.. I'll likely be reading all of this time and again and still have questions...
View attachment 1656927 Here are a couple more pictures of him standing in the dog crate. His tail feathers are pretty ragged. He really isn’t laced. He looks like what I would call blue in a chicken in his hind quarters area. I don’t like the way his head is sunk back into his bodyView attachment 1656926 . Is that normal?
What a pretty fantail! :love
I don't like the ones whose heads sink like that either.. but I do like the others!:love

There is always questions! All you lack is 'hands on'! Have you made any headway with hubs yet?

Im so anxious to get to the hands on point but dh hasn't brought it up again and didn't appear very interested when I did last wk.. I may have just picked a bad moment for it or he had other stuff on his mind. I'll give it a week or two and try again.:fl
