Oh crap! I almost forgot the best news!!!!! Both of Shadow’s eggs are fertile and developing!!

I haven’t been able to check Bonnie’s eggs because of her location. Once I added the box on top, where Trip is now, I can’t reach her. So I’ll just have to wait another week or so to see if hers hatch.

So... if i remember my binge reading you started in November with one pair, they produced bugsy, then you bought two more pair and each have 2 eggs? This could be worse than chicken math!

I started with 2 pairs. One pair of Satinettes (Bonnie and Clyde) and one pair of parlor rollers (Shadow and Java). Purchased those 4 at the same time. Guessed at the gender of Java, got lucky!
Then Bonnie and Clyde hatched 2, but one died on day 5 of life, so Bugsy was the only child. So I went looking for more. Found the other 5, which gave me 8 Satinettes, and that’s when I separated Shadow and Java by themselves. Now one pair of those new 5, Trip/Rocky have hatched 2 babies, Bonnie is still on eggs, due around the 16th, and Shadow on eggs, due around the 20th.

Well a crazy coopers hawk just got my last parlor roller. Through the wire! It was just sitting on the roof and there was a dead parlor in there wire bump out. Ahhh! Mean hawk!

Sorry for you loss. That breed especially has little to combat any sort of predator.

@WVduckchick - Do you have the bands you will use for the squabs babies (I have an irrational dislike of the word squab ..) Can they use seamless bands with the feathers on their legs?
