I'd be wary of someone who is selling old german owls and what appear to be owl x homers as racing pigeons. The more appropriate term would be hawk bait.

Yes, they may hawk bait, but the lister also said that price depends on bird, so likely crosses would be sold as crosses, and not racers. And the lister probably had these birds as 'dropper birds' which are very useful to train homers to trap quickly. so it's unlikely the lister flew them with the homers, so they likely have a good safe life. I'm not saying a life as good as having a pink bed though

Interesting development this evening with Brick and Brewer. Last night at dark, Trip was on her roost and not with B&B, so I brought them inside. Then this morning, I took them back outside. She fed them all day today, by the time I got home, their crops were good and full, they seemed happy. But it was beginning to get cold, and while Brick seems very robust, Brewer still seems a little slower. They were kinda of shivering and hunkered down (didn’t yell for me when I peeked in like they usually do). So I was going to bring them inside again tonight. But when I went out well past dark to get them, Trip was snuggled up with them! I will check to make sure she stays there, but it was nice to see her keeping them warm.

I think you are seen as part of the flock and so have to share parental responsibilities! It's good news that they haven't abandoned brick and brewer. It shouldn't be all that much longer before they can start to fend for themselves.

Well, Shaw is planning to take a few of my ducks, and one of dd3s friends wants a couple... but there's still another duck on eggs so im not sure they got the memo about downsizing..guess I need to resend it..

I have a chicken problem. I thought I'd ask here as yous are all chicken fans too! How can I treat sourcrop without nystatin or sticking caneston down a hens throat? I have one who has had a crop problem for a while but she ain't looking too good. I've got her in a cage in the garage with no food and only a little water with probios in. I'm going to withhold water tomorrow whilst I'm at work. I have made her sick some of it up but I haven't completely emptied it as I didn't want to stress her out anymore. Is there anything else I can do to help treat it?
