Pigeon Talk

Bad news yall. My pigeon that was egg bound, appears to be egg bound again. Its not able to fly. I can feel the egg, and it seems to be closer than last time. I don't know what happened. it wouldn't have lasted this long if it was egg bound this whole tome, right? I'm really puzzled right now. It's still pooping, although they're green, runny, and sticking to it's feathers. Any ideas what I should do? should it come inside? I'm not opposed to that! It has oyster shell available, so it should have plenty of calcium. Any ideas? Thanks.
Did you give some soothing warm baths last time:idunno
Try doing same as last time.

Is it legal to sell pigeons without a license?

You would need to check your own state's regulations to be sure, but I doubt that you'd need a license. Typically, you need a license to own or sell native birds (like certain game birds or other species like raptors), endangered or CITES species, or birds that are considered invasive (like Quakers in some states).

hello pigeon raisers, i have a few questions to ask about pigeons maybe one of you guys could help me out. sorry don't want to hijack this thread hope this is okay. :)

okay this might sound stupid but here we go.

my family owns a farm (no one lives on it) and there are hundreds of feral pigeons about a half a mile away. the farmer wants them gone as they poop all over his stuff. (he also rents our farm) but said it would be cool if i attracted the pigeons over to our old barns and such to get them away from his house and cattle feed.

so how would one go to attract them to a different spot? what type of feed? am thinking of setting up nesting sites for them as well in the old barn and buildings (odd one already lives in them) so he has less pigeons bugging him and pooping all over his stuff.
i would like to build the things as much as possible to keep prices low. and to note i do plan on hunting and eating them.

thanks itsasmallfarm out.

Why don't you just hunt them where they are? That seems like a lot of work, when the end result is they're going to be eaten anyway.

Yup. Sorry, they won't move. The best option is hunt them, or lock them in an cage after you trap them.

Anyone bred any grizzle birds before? I was told my pairing should produce about 50/50 black spreads and black grizzles but these two have a lot of white so far, although the one in the foreground is much darker.
Do they darken over time? I'm open to surprises as well so if no one knows I'll just have to wait and see ;)

You are not high-jacking anything since you have a legitimate question. As others already posted, the majority will not relocate. If the farmer did close off access to his barns, then some of them would seek other housing. That is of course not an easy task to pigeon proof barns.
I don't see it as wrong for you to want to eat the pigeons you capture. Peeps raise and eat them all around the globe.
I am not in favor of exterminators coming in and killing off pigeon masses, and just wasting a resource.:hit
If there are a lot of pigeons,,,, then you and the farmer will reap benefits. You get food to eat.:old Farmer gets barns cleared.:old
There are ways to trap pigeons. You may also want to start a new group with those in your existing barns. Keep supply of pigeons when farmers stock is depleted.
Here is an interesting one,,,
